It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything here. Last year I was all excited about becoming a travel blogger, traveling the world and writing about it. Six months ago, I changed my mind. I won’t go into why because I’m sure no one cares. I’m just providing an explanation for anyone who may wonder why it’s been so long between posts.
I was even thinking of taking the blog down, or whatever you do when you no longer want to blog. But then I remembered that this year I’m going on a trip to Portugal, and this blog may be the perfect way to share pictures with my family, or anyone else who is interested. In fact, this is how travel blogs began.
I turned 60 a week or so ago. To celebrate this milestone, my daughter Katie and I are taking a self-guided walking tour in Portugal. First we are heading to Lisbon for a few days, to see this beautiful capital city and get over our jet lag. On our third day we will be transported to Cascais, a small town along the southern/western coast of just west of the Lisbon area where we will begin our 7 day walking tour. We will be hiking up the Atlantic coast, walking 6-10 miles per day, starting in Cascais, and ending in Sintra. A highlight includes a trek to Cape Roca, Europe’s westernmost point, once considered to be the edge of the world. Our trip includes hotels selected by the tour company, and our bags will be transported daily to the next destination. The last day we will travel back to Lisbon for one last day of adventure before heading home. This trip is definitely softening the blow of turning 60.
